Proud Boy who broke Capitol window on Jan. 6 sentenced to 10 years in prison
The judge during the sentencing hearing referred to Pezzola as "the tip of the spear."
Proud Boys member Dominic Pezzola who smashed the Capitol window during the Jan. 6 riot was sentenced on Friday to 10 years in prison.
Pezzola was acquitted on a seditious conspiracy charge, but was convicted of other charges, including resisting or impeding a police officer, robbery of government property and destruction of government property.
“The reality is you were the one who did it,” U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly said during the sentencing hearing, according to CNN. “You were the one who smashed that window in and let people begin to stream into the Capitol building and threaten the lives of our lawmakers.”
Judge Keller also said that Pezzola was "the tip of the spear."
CNN reports that Pezzola apologized to the police officer he assaulted and to his own family.
When he left the courtroom, he reportedly yelled "Trump won."
Pezzola's co-defendants Joe Biggs and Zachary Rehl were sentenced earlier this week to 17 years and 15 years in prison, respectively.
