The Supreme Court agreed on Wednesday to hear a case involving a ban on the popular smartphone app TikTok.

The high court is expected to begin hearing oral arguments on January 10.

President Joe Biden signed a bill into law in April that requires the China-based company ByteDance to sell its stake in TikTok or face a ban in the U.S.

A federal appeals court in Washington, D.C. ruled that the U.S. government could regulate the platform in the United States over national security concerns and upheld the current law requiring the sale of the app.
