Trump to appear in court for appeal of E. Jean Carroll verdict
The jury awarded Carroll $2 million in damages for the battery count and a further $3 million for defamation related to Trump's denials of her story.
For President Donald Trump in expected to appear in-person on Friday as he seeks a new trial in E. Jean Carroll's sexual abuse and defamation case.
Trump's attorneys will argue before the appeals court that the judge permitted evidence and testimony that he should not have allowed, including testimony from other women who claimed he sexually assaulted them, according to CNN.
Carroll claimed that Trump raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the 1990s, which Trump still denies. The jury in May 2023 found Trump liable for sexual abuse but did not find that Trump had raped Carroll.
The jury awarded Carroll $2 million in damages for the battery count and a further $3 million for defamation related to Trump's denials of her story.
Trump does not face jail time in the case.
