Full jury set in Trump hush money trial
Lawyers on both sides will select a total of six alternate jurors in case any jury member needs to back out. Alternate jurors still attend the trials.
Former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial has reached a full jury as of Thursday afternoon, but selections for alternate jurors are still underway, according to Politico.
Lawyers on both sides will select a total of six alternate jurors in case any of the 12 regular jury member needs to back out, but one alternate has already been selected. Alternate jurors still attend the trials.
Trump, who will be the first president in United States history to undergo a criminal trial, has been charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in relations to an alleged hush money payment that was ultimately given to former porn star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election.
The former president has denied all counts related to the payment, and claimed the alleged affair that supposedly took place years before the payment, never occurred.
Seven jurors were sworn in Thursday afternoon, during the third day of the trial, while the other five were selected earlier this week.
Two jurors that had already been sworn in were dismissed on Thursday, with one claiming she could not be impartial, and amid concerns that her identity would be discovered after certain aspects were released. Another was dismissed after prosecutors raised concerns about the jurors' past because they were arrested in the 1990s for tearing down political signs.
Lawyers on both sides of the case are looking for jurors who can be impartial when it comes to the former president, and will look specifically at the evidence presented in the case.
