Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) CEO Devin Nunes on Tuesday celebrated a U.S. Court ruling that determined Rumble and TMTG did not need to comply with a Brazilian Supreme Court order to remove a U.S.-based user’s accounts.

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes issued gag orders against Rumble last week, ordering the platform to censor a Brazilian journalist's account even though the journalist lives in the United States.

Moraes even imposed daily fines on the company, threatened Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski with criminal charges, and ordered the shutdown of Rumble’s platform in Brazil.

Rumble and TMTG filed a joint emergency motion in a U.S. court on Monday after the Brazilian order. A federal judge in Florida ruled on Tuesday that the companies are under no legal obligation to comply with the order, TMTG said in a press release.

“This is a major victory for free speech and free expression online," Nunes said in a statement. “The ruling confirms that would-be dictators in any country can’t force Trump Media or Rumble to censor their opponents. We congratulate our partner Rumble on its principled stand for freedom.”

The U.S. court additionally said that if anyone tries to enforce the Brazilian orders in the U.S. without following proper procedures, then it "stands ready" to take further action.
