The morning after Donald Trump's big win at the Iowa caucuses, the former president and now top 2024 GOP presidential candidate, returned Tuesday to New York City to attend the E. Jean Carroll defamation trial against him.
Trump was found liable last year in an NYC court for sexually assaulting Carroll, a former Elle magazine columnist, in a department store dressing room in the 1990s, according to The Independent.com.
The jury ordered Trump to pay her $5 million.
Carroll is now suing Trump for comments he made as president including that she was peddling a false rape accusation and suggested she was motivated by money, Politico reports.
Trial proceedings begin with jury selection, and the trial is expected to last about three days.
