Former President Trump is seeking $100 million in damages from the U.S. Justice Department over its handling of the classified documents search at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Fla.

The search occurred in August of 2022.

Trump's legal team has described the search as "political persecution" and unconstitutional.

According to an administrative tort claim, Trump's legal team alleged that DOJ applied "inconsistent standards" with the search, arguing it was a “clear dereliction of constitutional principles.”
