Two Iranian supreme court judges were fatally shot in an alleged assassination in Tehran.

Ali Razini and Mohammad Moghiseh were shot dead after a gunman entered the court and opened fire on Saturday morning.

The court's news website said the gunman killed himself while running away from the scene.

A bodyguard was reportedly injured during the shooting.

The motive behind the attack has not yet been determined.

The BBC reported that the judges have been part of a crackdown on opposition to the Islamic government since the 1980s.
