Netanyahu dissolves war cabinet after resignations over direction of military operation in Gaza
Netanyahu reportedly dissolved the cabinet because far-right politicians demanded representation in the cabinet after the resignations
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday dissolved his war cabinet – following dissent from two key members about the direction of the war Israel declared over eight months ago on Hamas.
The two members, Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot, resigned from the cabinet last week.
The former military chiefs had been seen as voices of moderation in the five-member body, which was formed in October 2023 after the Hamas-led assault on Israel, which resulted in the war in Gaza.
Netanyahu dissolved the cabinet because far-right politicians demanded representation in the cabinet after the resignations, according to the New York Times.
