State Department to begin pulling visas for Chinese college students
The State Department is also expected to revise its visa approval process to enhance the scrutiny of all visa applications from the Chinese government.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday announced his department will start revoking visas for Chinese college students, including those with ties to the country's government.
The announcement comes after the secretary said he was revoking visas for all foreign officials from countries that censor Americans' free speech, including Chinese dignitaries and other foreign officials who are complicit in the censorship.
"Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, the U.S. State Department will work with the Department of Homeland Security to aggressively revoke visas for Chinese students, including those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields," Rubio said in a statement.
The State Department is also expected to revise its visa approval process to enhance the scrutiny of all visa applications from the Chinese government, Rubio said.
