US reaches deal to release ally of Venezuelan President in exchange for 10 imprisoned Americans

As of now, administration officials have not named the Americans being released.

The Biden administration reached a deal Wednesday to release an ally of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in exchange for 10 U.S. citizens imprisoned in the South American country. 

Alex Saab, whom the U.S. arrested in 2020 for money laundering, is expected to be released in exchange.

The agreement also requires Maduro to release 20 Venezuelan political prisoners, according to NBC News

As of now, administration officials have not named the Americans being released.
