Biden administration to ease federal restrictions on marijuana use
The Department of Health and Human Services has recommended that marijuana should be considered a Schedule III drug with 'moderate to low potential' for addiction
The Biden administration is reportedly planning to ease federal restrictions on cannabis with a new federal rule.
The Department of Health and Human Services has recommended that marijuana should no longer be considered a Schedule I drug but a Schedule III.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is expected to approve the recommendation, according to several sources on Tuesday.
However, marijuana would still not be recognized federally for recreational use.
According to the U.S. government, "schedule III drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with a moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence."
