Ex-Secret Service agent says he is optimistic the agency can be fixed amid recent security failures
"There's five independent investigations going on right now," Marino said.
Former Secret Service agent Charles Marino said that he has hope that the agency can be fixed amid recent security failures at the rally where former President Donald Trump was shot.
"I'm optimistic that it can be fixed," Marino said on the Tuesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. He added that there will likely be a lot of changes to the agency.
On July 13, Trump was nearly assassinated at a rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania. He was shot in the ear and shortly after escorted off stage.
Two people were injured at the rally and one person died. The gunman also died. Since then, Congress has held hearings on the Secret Service failures that day.
Shortly after her testimony in front of the House Oversight Committee, former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned.
"There's five independent investigations going on right now," Marino said. "The FBI being one ... [and] the independent commission that was just announced the other day by Congress."
He also praised the Secret Service agents who shielded Trump when bullets were fired.
