FAA issues flight restrictions over questionable drone activity near Trump's Bedminster golf course

One of the restrictions will remain in place near Trump's golf course until the end of the week, while the ban in Dover will remain until Dec. 26.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Tuesday said that it has issued two flight restrictions on the area surrounding President-elect Donald Trump's Bedminster golf club in New Jersey, following questionable drone activity.

The drone sightings were first reported on Nov. 18, but have continued into this week, according to Fox News. The sightings come after drones were also reported over joint British-American bases in the United Kingdom last month.

The FAA on Tuesday said that one restriction covers an area near Solberg-Hunterdon County Airport that consists of airspace above Trump's course. The other ban prohibits aircraft from flying over Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, New Jersey, which serves as a major U.S. Army hub.

"Safely integrating drones into the National Airspace System is a key priority for the FAA," the FAA told Fox News in a statement Tuesday. "We look into all reports of unauthorized drone operations and investigate when appropriate."

The restrictions will remain in place until the end of the week in Somerset, near Trump's golf course, while the ban in Dover will remain until Dec. 26.

Drone pilots who violate the restrictions or endanger aircraft or people can have their licenses revoked, or face up to $75,000 in fines.
