FBI probe into New Orleans terror attack turns to suspect’s home in Texas, other collaborators
The agency said investigative activity in Houston was related to the New Orleans attack.
The FBI investigation into the New Orleans terror attack on New Year’s Day is turning to the suspect’s hometown in Texas, and the question of whether there are other collaborators.
On New Year's Day, a man drove a pickup truck through a crowd of people in the French Quarter before opening fire on police with a gun, killing 15 and injuring 35.
The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen and Army veteran from Texas. He died in a shootout with police after the incident.
"FBI Houston and the Harris County Sheriff's Office are currently conducting law enforcement activity near the intersection of Hugh Road and Crescent Peak Drive in north Houston," the FBI said in a statement on X.
The agency said that this investigation is in relation to the New Orleans attack and as of now, no other information can be provided.
"He was hellbent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did," New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said in reference to Jabbar, according to Fox 26.
Police and FBI officials since they also were investigating that other people assist in the terror attack.
