FBI: Assassination attempt on Trump 'potential domestic terrorism act'
The FBI identified the suspect as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
The FBI said on Sunday that the assassination attempt on former President Trump is possibly a case of domestic terrorism.
"We are investigating this as an assassination attempt, but also looking at it as a potential domestic terrorism act," said Robert Wells, assistant director of the FBI counterterrorism division.
The FBI identified the suspect as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
According to the Government Accountability Office, "domestic terrorism is generally defined by law as involving criminal acts dangerous to human life on U.S. soil that appear intended to coerce a civilian population or influence or affect the conduct of government."
