House Oversight Committee report accuses FTC Chair Khan of abusing position to serve Biden agenda
“Rather than fulfill her obligation to ensure the FTC adheres to its independent role, our investigation reveals that Chair Lina Khan abused her power and bent the knee to the Biden-Harris White House,” Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said in a statement.
The House Oversight Committee released a report Thursday that accuses Federal Trade Commission Chairman Lina Khan of abusing her position to advance the Biden-Harris administration’s agenda.
“Rather than fulfill her obligation to ensure the FTC adheres to its independent role, our investigation reveals that Chair Lina Khan abused her power and bent the knee to the Biden-Harris White House,” Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said in a statement.
Among other claims, the report claims that Khan dismissed ethical principles in the course of merger-review and launched an “intimidation campaign” to discourage mergers of any kind, campaigned to reshape American antitrust and competition policy, and used the commission to support Biden-Harris election interests.
A probe into Khan was launched in February 2023 after Commissioner Christine Wilson announced her resignation from the FTC in protest of Khals alleged abuse of the agency. Wilson excoriated Khan in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, accusing her of “disregard for the law.”
The FTC did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the report.
