Inflation holds steady, prices of good and services in September up 2.4% compared to last year
Report states cost of shelter rose 0.2% in September, cost for food increased 0.4 percent
Consumer prices increased in September by 2.4% compared to the same time last year, the Labor Department announced Thursday.
The agency's September Consumer Price Index also shows prices increased last month 0.2%, compared to last year, the same increase as in August and July, according to the department's the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The report states the cost of shelter rose 0.2% in September, and the cost for food increased 0.4 percent.
Together, these two indexes contributed over 75% of the monthly all items increase. However, the cost of energy declined, according to the report.
