Masks no longer required inside Pentagon, military and civilian employees told

The notice went into effect Tuesday evening.

The Pentagon no longer will require people to wear masks inside the facility, the Defense Department told military members and civilian employees on Tuesday night.

A copy of the emailed announcement was viewed by Just the News.

"With recent changes to DoD masking guidance & the current CDC COVID-19 community levels for Arlington County & City of Alexandria, VA (both “low”), masks are no longer required for military, civilian employees, on-site contractors, or visitors to the Pentagon facilities in these jurisdictions, regardless of vaccination status," the email stated. 

The "DOD Alert! Mass Warning and Notification System" sent the notice via mass emailing. 

"Individuals may choose to wear a mask regardless of COVID-19 community level," the email stated.

The notice is in effect March 1 as of 10:16:52 p.m. GMT, which is 5:16:52 p.m. at the Pentagon.
