Pompeo says Iran's 'revolution is in the making,' slams the Biden administration

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says Iran is in the process of a revolution citing the ongoing protests against the country's theocratic government is critical of the Biden administration's diplomacy with the Islamic Republic.

"Revolution is in the making," Pompeo said Saturday at a summit for the Organization of Iranian American Communities.

After three months of demonstrations in Iran following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in the custody of the theocracy's so-called "morality police," Pompeo said, "The future lies with the protestors."

Amini was taken into custody for allegedly failing to properly wear a headscarf. 

Pompeo, also a former CIA director, criticized the administration's handling of Iran, including attempts to reenter the 2015 nuclear deal. 

"There can be no hope to moderate or cooperate with the regime led by such men," he said about Iran's leaders. "We're seeing this happen over and over again as many of the folks from team Obama are beginning to understand that ... this administration's approach is going to be unsuccessful."

He also touted his accomplishments in the Trump administration, amid speculation he'll run for president in 2024, saying, "We, our administration, used every tool at our disposal to level and eliminate power from the regime."

As recently as Monday, Iran said there will be a "good opportunity" to discuss the nuclear deal with the United States during a conference set for this week in Jordan, Barrons reported.

Retired Gen. Jack Keane also spoke at the summit on Iran and said the country will soon be free. 

"We can see it, we can hear it, and we can feel it," he said. "This is a revolution that has taken place. I say to the people of Iran that it is coming, free at last, free at last."
