'School officials need to be prosecuted': Girls allegedly forced to disrobe in front of male
Detransitioners get a personal meeting with Education Secretary Linda McMahon for fifth annual Detransitioner Awareness Day. District fights with teachers union in court over parental notification for gender transitions.
The Trump administration and politically progressive jurisdictions are playing tug-of-war with school districts on gender identity policies such as access to the opposite sex's intimate facilities and disclosure of gender transition to parents.
The American public is also getting its greatest insight into the lives of formerly gender-confused young people, while pop culture finally acknowledges a sexual-arousal condition of unknown frequency among males who identify as girls and women.
Illinois's Deerfield Public Schools District 109 is under the microscope on both sides of the Atlantic after parent Nicole Georgas said Thursday at a school board meeting that administrators and teachers entered the junior high girls' locker room to force girls to change into their gym clothes after they refused to do so in the presence of a male who identifies as a girl.
Georgas said she already filed a civil rights complaint with the Department of Justice that was referred to the Department of Education, and a complaint with the school itself, in the video clipped by gender-critical media outlet Reduxx from the 72-minute school board meeting.
After her daughter first encountered the male in the girls' restroom Feb. 5, Georgas said she contacted the administration, which allegedly told her its legal counsel said students must be allowed to use facilities for the opposite sex.
The Illinois Department of Human Rights says the "discomfort or privacy concerns of other students, teachers, or parents are not valid reasons to deny or limit the full and equal use of facilities based on a student’s gender-related identity."
Georgas said she rejected the district's offer that her daughter switch gym classes to avoid the male, rather than require the male to use a gender-neutral room. "The girls just want their privacy and they want their locker room back."
After Georgas sat down, an audience member asked "why are you looking at children's genitals?" – a Democratic talking point against sex-based legislation.
Wearing a shirt with a knife over the words "Protect Trans Kids," one speaker responded to Georgas' comment by denouncing "petty women" for promoting the "white supremacist agenda of their cis white husbands," portraying the gender-critical movement – which is arguably strongest in the secular U.K. and includes a nonwhite pioneer – as a race-based religion.
Georgas did not respond to Just the News queries via Facebook messenger or a public post on her X account, which has been sharing news stories and support for her crusade. District officials didn't answer when asked for their response to Georgas and whether gender identity in intimate facilities is governed by policy, practice or administrative discretion.
Activists like Georgas have the backing of the Trump administration, as do young people who have renounced their gender confusion and are reversing their related medical interventions.
Detransitioners scored a coup for the fifth annual Detransitioners Awareness Day, with half a dozen meeting with Education Secretary Linda McMahon last week.
Parental rights activists and "mental health, medical, and education professionals" also spoke about their experience with gender ideology and medical interventions at the "listening session," which included Education and Health and Human Services officials who discussed the administration's efforts, according to a press release.
"No teacher should attempt to persuade or coerce a student to undergo a gender transition," McMahon said. "No parent should be lied to or prevented from knowing what is going on with their child’s mental or physical health."
The departments of Education, Agriculture and HHS each launched Title IX investigations on the related issue of letting males compete in girls' sports. A bigger surprise this month: California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom agrees with a ban on males in girls' sports, saying "it's an issue of fairness."
HHS on Monday found the Maine Department of Education, Maine Principals' Association and a school district each violated the sex discrimination law on that basis but has not released the enforcement letters mentioned in its press release. A spokesperson declined to comment on the record when asked for the letters.
The video of Georgas got shared by influencers including Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. who wrote "I’d remove my daughter instantly from that school, then go full Nemesis."
Former Olympian and gender-critical athletics apparel entrepreneur Jennifer Sey said the district had committed "several" crimes based on Georgas's allegations, including sexual assault and false imprisonment. "These school officials need to be prosecuted."
Illinois GOP state Rep. Blaine Wilhour blamed "dangerous, disgusting cheerleading" by Gov. J.B. Pritzker and fellow Democratic lawmakers for "woke perverts" like Deerfield officials "gaining the confidence to demand" teen girls disrobe "against their will" before a teen boy.
Wilhour posted a clip from Pritzker's speech to last year's Equality Illinois gala, in which the reportedly wealthiest politician in America touted the Prairie State's Medicaid expansion for "gender affirming surgeries," the State Board of Education's "gender inclusive policies" and "inclusive LGBTQ-plus curriculum" in which students learn about "queer and trans trailblazers."
Pritzker identified one as sex worker Marsha Johnson, who appears in the preschool-aimed book Pride Puppy, which Maryland's Montgomery County Public Schools once forced students to read without parental notification or opt-out, in a case pending at the Supreme Court.
Moms for Liberty Yolo County Chair Beth Bourne, whom critics tried to get fired from the University of California Davis, alleged a situation parallel to Deerfield's in her own district: a male employee who identifies as a woman, works with developmentally disabled students, has access to the high school girls' locker room and posted a racy photo this year.
Forty minutes from Davis on I-80, Rocklin Unified School District lost an administrative proceeding and appeal to preserve its parental notification policy for student gender transitions, for which it was already being sued for conflicting with California's secrecy mandate.
The Liberty Justice Center is now representing the district before a California appeals court to challenge the Public Employee Relations Board's decision that Rocklin Unified violated collective bargaining by approving parental notification without teachers union say-so.
One of the most critically acclaimed shows on television dipped into the third rail of transgender identity in a scene analyzed by researcher Ray Blanchard, who studies sexual orientation, paraphilias and gender identity disorders.
"Maybe what I really want is to be one of these Asian girls" to whom he's attracted but by whom he can't be sexually satisfied, a character tells another in the HBO show "The White Lotus," referring to autogynephilia, in which a man is aroused from imagining himself as a woman.
"Since 2003, political trans activists and their 'allies' have done everything they could to prevent the word and the concept of autogynephilia from entering public awareness," Blanchard wrote. "And yet, with excruciating slowness but apparent inevitability, it is doing just that."
