Senate confirms Scott Bessent as Treasury secretary
President Donald Trump nominated Bessent, who founded Key Square Capital Management, late last year, after Bessent worked as an economic advisor for him on the campaign trial.
The Senate on Monday night confirmed Scott Bessent, a billionaire hedge fund manager and investor as Treasury secretary in a 68-29 vote.
Bessent was advanced out of the Finance Committee last week, and the Senate teed up his confirmation in a preliminary 67-23 vote this past weekend.
