Special counsel subpoenas Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner in Trump investigation
It remains unclear what information Smith may seek from the pair, though both served as key advisors to the 45th president during his official tenure.
Special counsel Jack Smith has served Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, with subpoenas related to the ongoing probe of the Jan. 6, 2021, incident and former President Donald Trump's efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election.
It remains unclear what information Smith may seek from the pair, though both served as key advisors to the 45th president during his official tenure.
The New York Times first reported on the subpoenas citing "two people briefed on the matter."
Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Smith to handle the DOJ's investigations into Trump-related matters after the former president announced his campaign to return to office in 2024.
Smith has since subpoenaed former Vice President Mike Pence, who has indicated plans to fight the special counsel's demands.
