Texas Congressman Lance Gooden says that the FBI is in a "sad state" with all of the political weaponization and the two-tiered system of justice.

"The FBI is really in a sad state," Gooden said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "There is in fact, a two-tiered justice system and the FBI has a lot of rot that has not been fully taken out. We have got a lot of work to do."

Hunter Biden struck a deal with federal prosecutors to avoid prison by pleading guilty to two misdemeanor tax crimes and admitting to a gun charge that could be dismissed, court records released earlier this week show.

The deal has sparked an influx of criticism from lawmakers and legal scholars alike. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, who's leading the probe into the Biden family, was one of many to dub it a "sweetheart deal" that puts DOJ's perceived favoritism on full display.

"The American people have lost faith," Gooden said. "There was in fact, no collusion, no coordination, no Russian involvement with the Trump campaign. We're seeing just constant lies from the other side in the effort to take down President Trump before he even took office."

Gooden emphasized the fact that the Biden family was protected by federal agencies when they should have been investigated.

"We've seen the FBI refuse to work with Congress by not turning over documents and we've seen the FBI protecting the Biden family," he stated.

While some members of Congress, such as Arizona GOP Rep. Andy Biggs, have called for the FBI to be dismantled, Gooden said the institution is needed, but it has to be reformed.

"The necessary reforms are going to take a long time, and it's going to take a lot of work," he stated. "And I think that we need the FBI, but we've got to have faith in the FBI and the American people have to have faith in the FBI."
