Two US Marines attacked by group of Turkish nationalists

Members of the organization Turkish Youth Union assaulted two US Marines on Monday and were taken into custody after the attack, according to reports.

The Marines who were attacked were part of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Members of the Turkish Youth Union have reportedly attacked U.S. service members previously.

One of the two Marines was seen on video yelling “Help!” while members of the group covered the head of the other Marine with a big, while the crowd chanted, “Yankee, go home!”

The Navy said that local Izmir police and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service are both currently investigating the attack.
