The federal government launched its official Freedom 250 website Tuesday as the nation prepares to celebrate it's monumental 250th birthday in July.

The federal website features the major celebrations that will take place throughout the year to mark the nation's semiquincentennial, and includes resources about the United States' history.

“As the country looks ahead to its 250th birthday, the launch of this platform marks a defining step in bringing that vision to life," Freedom 250 CEO Keith Krach said in a statement. "It establishes a single, inspiring destination where Americans can come together to reflect on our past, celebrate our present, and build toward the next 250 years of freedom and opportunity."

Some of the major celebrations that will take place in Washington, D.C., this year include a "National Jubilee of Prayer" on May 17, the Great American State Fair on June 25 and the IndyCar Street Race on Aug. 21.
