Georgia Rep. Andrew Clyde calls most recent foreign aid package 'America Last'
If the Ukraine bill passed, the U.S. would be sending $60.84 billion to the country.
Congressman Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., on Thursday called the foreign aid package that funds the Ukraine war "America Last."
"This is definitely an 'America Last' foreign aid program," he said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "It has nothing in it whatsoever to secure our border [or] to prevent the invasion at our southern border. This is an 'America Last' foreign aid package, and it needs to be defeated."
House Speaker Mike Johnson released the legislative text of three foreign aid bills covering Ukraine, Israel and the Indo-Pacific earlier this week.
If the Ukraine bill passed, the U.S. would be sending $60.84 billion to the country.
"This is not what we promised the American people," Clyde said. "We told them that our border is first. We have to secure our border so we can have national security before we secure someone else's border and before we provide money for either Ukraine or for Taiwan or for Israel."
He referred to the bill as a "sellout" and said there needs to be a plan to secure the U.S.-Mexico border.
