DC Mayor Bowser says had a 'great' meeting with Trump, discussed 'shared priorities'
“We discussed areas for collaboration between local and federal government, especially around our federal workforce, underutilized federal buildings, parks and green spaces, and infrastructure," Mayor Bowser said in her statement.
Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser says she had a great meeting with former President Donald Trump in which they discussed "shared priorities" for his second term.
“Today, President Trump and I had a great meeting to discuss our shared priorities for the President’s second term," Bowser said in a statement on Monday. "President Trump and I both want Washington, DC to be the best, most beautiful city in the world and we want the capital city to reflect the strength of our nation."
Bowser also expressed optimism about the politicians finding common ground during Trump's next four year in the White House.
“We discussed areas for collaboration between local and federal government, especially around our federal workforce, underutilized federal buildings, parks and green spaces, and infrastructure," her statement continued. "I am optimistic that we will continue to find common ground with the President during his second term, and we look forward to supporting a successful inauguration on January 20.”
Though having their differences during Trump's first term, he and Bowser essentially agree that federal workers returning to their downtown D.C. workspaces is key to reviving the city's post-pandemic economy
During the George Floyd protests, in Trump's first term, the leaders publicly argued on social media about whether federal law enforcement was necessary to prevent and stop the vandalism and other crimes associated with the demonstrations, according to Fox News.
