Family members of a mother of five who was allegedly murdered in 2023 by an illegal immigrant from El Salvador say they haven't heard from the Biden-Harris administration since the suspected killer was arrested in June.
Rachel Morin, 37, was found dead Aug. 6, 2023, near a Maryland trail.
In June, authorities arrested Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, 23, of El Salvador, in Oklahoma and charged him with rape and murder in connection with the incident.
The family members, in a statement obtained by Fox News on Wednesday, said they were "disappointed" that they have yet to hear from President Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris, now the Democrats' presidential nominee, since the arrest.
"The Morin family is deeply disappointed by the lack of acknowledgment and compassion from President Biden and his administration," said Randolph Rice, the Morin family's spokesperson. "It has been 75 days since Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, an illegal immigrant who slipped across our nation’s border multiple times, was captured. Yet, there has been no word from the White House."
Rice also wrote: "This lack of concern serves as a reminder of the apparent disregard by the Biden administration for the victims of preventable crimes committed by illegal immigrants."
Former President Trump, now the Republican presidential nominee, has met with the family, including Rachel's mother, Patty.
"In stark contrast to the silence from the Biden Administration, former President Donald Trump has met with the Morin family on multiple occasions, offering his support and condolences," the family's statement also reads.
