The FBI raided the business and offices of Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens on Wednesday in Jackson, Miss.

FBI agents were at Owens' Downtown Cigar Company on Wednesday morning and carried out a printer, boxes, and bags from the Hinds County Courthouse, where Owens' office is located, reported WAPT, a local ABC News outlet.

"The FBI is executing federal search warrants at the multiple locations," FBI Public Information Officer Marshay Lawson said in a statement. "The affidavit in support of the search warrants has been sealed by the court and so I am prohibited from commenting further. There is no threat to public safety."

Owens received a $500,000 contribution from a PAC funded by progressive megadonor George Soros for his first DA race in 2019, according to the Capital Research Center.

Prior to becoming DA, Owens worked at the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Mississippi Office as chief policy counsel and managing attorney.
