Maine ends shelter-in-place order after mass shooting, search ongoing for gunman
The shooting took place Wednesday evening in Lewiston, Maine, and saw the gunman open fire at both a bowling alley and a bar and grill.
Maine authorities on Friday ended the shelter-in-place order stemming from a mass shooting earlier this week that saw 18 people killed and 13 more injured.
"We decided to rescind that order, again, but recommend that people remain vigilant as they move forward," said Maine Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sauschuck, according to The Hill.
Sauschuck further noted that the search for Robert Card, whom authorities have identified as the alleged gunman, was still ongoing and had expanded to include dive searches of the Androscoggin River. Card's vehicle was discovered near a boat launch.
The shooting took place Wednesday evening in Lewiston, Maine, and saw the gunman open fire at both a bowling alley and a bar and grill. Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Card for eight murder charges. As of Thursday, 10 of the victims had not been identified, hence he was not charged for those deaths. The dead have since been identified.
