In the early hours of Sunday in Tampa, Florida, a police pursuit ended in a deadly crash when a vehicle smashed into a busy bar, killing four people and injuring eleven others, police said.

The driver fled the scene on foot and was later arrested. He faces charges, including multiple counts of vehicular homicide and aggravated assault with a vehicle.

The chase began when the car — believed to be stolen — failed to stop after officers activated their lights and siren. Pursuing the vehicle through the city, police said the driver accelerated and lost control and ran into the bar, according to the Associated Press.

The injured were rushed to local hospitals and their conditions ranged from serious to critical.

In response to the incident, Tampa’s mayor and police chief said that they will review the actions of responding officers, the decision to initiate or continue the chase, and whether policy was followed.
