Mark Meadows tells GOP to hold out and not let Democrats set budget cycle for next year
"What they're doing is they are setting it up so members of Congress wanting to get home for Christmas will vote for a long term budget solution."
Former President Trump's Chief of Staff Mark Meadows says that Republicans shouldn't allow the Democrats the chance to set the budget for next year right before Christmas, especially if Republicans take back the House in the upcoming midterm elections.
"I blame some of the current leadership for this," Meadows said on the Tuesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "Had they not pushed what they call a continuing resolution to be due right before Christmas, we wouldn't be talking about this. What they're doing is they are setting it up so members of Congress wanting to get home for Christmas will vote for a long term budget solution."
Meadows said that what should happen is that Congress should do a 60-day short term plan and allow the new session of Congress, which starts in January, to set the budget and be in charge of those priorities.
Meadows later announced that he would support Donald Trump as the GOP candidate if he were to run in 2024.
"I'm all in for Donald Trump," Meadows stated. "He's, done some amazing things."
