Ex border commissioner urges Trump to withhold federal funds from cities that harbor illegal aliens
"I hope that the Trump Administration uses everything under the Constitution within their power to just absolutely defeat these sanctuary cities," Morgan said.
President-elect Donald Trump former border commissioner Mark Morgan urged the 45th president to withhold federal funds from any city or state that gives sanctuary to illegal aliens.
"We really have no choice," Morgan said on the Thursday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "I started my career out as a local cop and I can tell you local police departments [and] state agencies, they know their state and city better than any federal agency out there."
He said that the U.S. needs to go back to "common sense" policies when it comes to immigration and sanctuary cities, arguing that local officials can and will be part of that.
"In what planet does it make sense that someone is the country illegally, commits a violent crime and then you're going to protect that individual and release them back in your city and prevent them from being removed?" Morgan asked.
He added that ICE and local police stations have worked together in the past to remove illegal aliens from different states.
"I hope that the Trump Administration uses everything under the Constitution within their power to just absolutely defeat these sanctuary cities," Morgan said.
