An explosive device was detonated outside the office of Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, authorities confirmed on Monday.

"The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will be leading the investigation, and we are urging anyone with information to contact them immediately," Marshall said, according to ABC News.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident and the motive remains unclear.

The incident comes in the wake of Alabama Supreme Court ruling determining that fertilized embryos created through in vitro fertilization have the same rights as "unborn children." Multiple Alabama medical providers, including the University of Alabama at Birmingham health system have since paused IVF treatments.

Marshall had indicated he would not prosecute providers of IVF treatments in the wake of the ruling.
