Fred Fleitz suggests Trump, Zelensky might make amends before he leaves U.S.

"My guess is a Kellogg has been working hard just in the last hour to try to bring Zelensky to his census and said, 'Look, you have a small time window here to solve this, and it's going to close if you keep this up,'" he added.

Former National Security Council chief of staff Fred Fleitz on Friday suggested that Trump's special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, may yet patch up relations between the president and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky after the pair had a high-profile spat during a meeting at the White House.

"I'm speaking for myself, but this is what I think is going to happen. General Keith Kellogg, my former FBI colleague, the President's senior envoy for Russia and Ukraine, he has already called Zelensky, in my opinion, and said to him, 'What were you thinking and how can we patch this up before it gets out of control?'" he opined on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast.

"My guess is a Kellogg has been working hard just in the last hour to try to bring Zelensky to his census and said, 'Look, you have a small time window here to solve this, and it's going to close if you keep this up,'" he added.

The meeting between Trump and Zelensky erupted into a shouting match as Zelensky implied the Russians would invade the U.S. if Ukraine fell. Trump excoriated him for not being grateful for American support while Vance admonished Zelensky for behaving disrespectfully in the White House. Zelensky left without signing a planned minerals deal.

"The purpose of this meeting was for Zelensky to come up with his final concerns and for Trump give his bottom line for a peace deal. But this came in with demands and saying he didn't want to cease fire, and he fought with the President in the Oval Office in front of the news media," Fleitz continued. "I mean, what do you think is going to happen when you fight with Trump in the White House?"

"He came to fight with Trump and to insult Trump and the Vice President, and it set back efforts to end this war," Fleitz insisted. "And you know what's so sad? Trump had already said, Look, if they don't want peace, I'm going to walk away. And he said that again today. And you know, we could be on the brink of that happening."
