Hegseth warns Tuesday will be 'most intense day of strikes inside Iran'
Hegseth's warning comes after he reported that the previous 24-hours saw Iran fire the "lowest amount of missiles they have fired yet," which he noted show the U.S. is making progress in wearing down Iran’s defenses.
War Secretary Pete Hegseth warned Iran that Tuesday will be the most "intense day of strikes" inside of the country since the conflict broke out in the Middle East last month.
"Today will be, yet again, our most intense day of strikes inside Iran — the most fighters, the most bombers, the most strikes," Hegseth said during a Pentagon briefing.
The briefing comes as Iran appears to slow its attacks on American and Israeli forces in the region. Hegseth said the previous 24-hours saw Iran fire the "lowest amount of missiles they have fired yet," which he noted show the U.S. is making progress in wearing down Iran’s defenses.
Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the U.S. military has struck more than 5,000 targets since the start of the conflict and that ongoing U.S. and Israeli strikes have resulted in a 90% reduction in Iran's missile launches against Israel and Persian Gulf allies.
The update comes as the conflict enters its 11th day.
