Houthis fire missile at U.S. aircraft carrier in retaliation of U.S. and British attacks

The U.S. and British strikes against Houthi targets Thursday, which were in response to the group’s surge in attacks on shipping, have killed 16 people and wounded 41, including civilians.

Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen retaliated Friday against U.S. and British attacks, reportedly firing at a U.S. aircraft carrier. 

A Houthi military spokesperson said that the group fired a missile in the direction of the U.S. aircraft carrier Eisenhower in the Red Sea, according to Reuters. However, a U.S. Defense official told the outlet that they were not aware of any attack on the ship. 

The U.S. and British strikes against Houthi targets Thursday, which were in response to the group’s surge in attacks on shipping, have killed 16 people and wounded 41, including civilians, the Houthi spokesperson said in a televised statement. 

U.S. Central Command said the allied forces hit 13 targets in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.
