An undocumented Argentine citizen remains in custody awaiting removal proceedings after Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested him in Maryland.

ICE announced the arrest, which happened June 19, on Tuesday. Federal officers have identified the individual as Alejandro Saul Rico.

Rico admitted to officers that he entered the U.S. in Miami on a tourist visa, and traveled to Disney World with his family, who also overstayed their visas.

“Too many illegal aliens believe they can overstay a visa, disappear into the interior of the country, and avoid the consequences of violating our immigration laws,” Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said Tuesday.

Bis also noted that visas shouldn’t be used as a one-way ticket for criminals to enter the U.S. and “exploit our laws.” Rico’s criminal history includes a third-degree sex offense and a conviction for assault in Maryland.

Rico was authorized a B1 visitor visa in 2006 that expired in 2016.

ICE planned a targeted enforcement operation in Silver Spring, Maryland, to make the arrest.
