Intelligence agencies vow to keep Congress updated on foreign assassination efforts on Trump, others
The main hearing will take place next Wednesday, when Gabbard and the heads of the CIA, FBI, National Security Agency and Defense Intelligence Agency will meet with the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
United States Intelligence agencies on Friday committed themselves to keeping Congress updated on foreign assassination attempts against President Donald Trump and other high-level officials in his administration.
Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard is expected to head to Capitol Hill in the coming weeks to discuss national security issues, and to hold the Annual Threat Assessment hearings next week with lawmakers. Other chiefs of America’s intelligence agencies will also visit Capitol Hill in the coming weeks, per the Washington Times.
The visits come after the Justice Department accused Iran of planning to assassinate Trump by paying a murder-for-hire contractor to carry out the mission. He was thwarted before the attempt took place, and Iran has denied the allegations.
“ODNI has and will continue to provide consistent updates and briefs on this priority topic, and others, to Congress,” Gabbard's office said in a statement. “DNI Gabbard looks forward to the Annual Threat Assessment hearings next week where she and her colleagues will discuss threats facing our country, including threats against U.S. persons.”
The main hearing will take place next Wednesday, when Gabbard and the heads of the CIA, FBI, National Security Agency and Defense Intelligence Agency will meet with the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
