Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned President Donald Trump on Monday that his country would not accept negotiations while "under the shadow of threats."

The warning comes as the United States prepares for the next round of peace talks with Iran in Pakistan this week, which will be led by Vice President JD Vance for the U.S. delegation.

"Trump, by imposing a siege and violating the ceasefire, seeks to turn this negotiating table— in his own imagination— into a table of surrender or to justify renewed warmongering," Ghalibaf said on X. "We do not accept negotiations under the shadow of threats, and in the past two weeks, we have prepared to reveal new cards on the battlefield."

Ghalibaf led the peace talks for Iran in the last round of negotiations, which took place April 11. The talks come as the two-week ceasefire in the Middle East is expected to expire on Tuesday.

Trump said that he does not feel pressured to make a peace deal quickly because he wants to hold out for the best deal, and vowed that the deal will be better than the "Iran Nuclear Deal" from the Obama administration.

The president has also maintained that the United States is actually "winning a war" with Iran "by a lot," and that the military conflict is "going very well."
