Israel on Monday claimed that it had killed two senior leaders of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in an attack on a petrochemical facility in the Fars region.

Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the strikes in a video statement. Israel further claimed that the attack had killed two leaders of the IRGC, according to the Associated Press.

The strike on the facility comes as President Donald Trump has largely held off of targeting Iranian civil infrastructure, though he has repeatedly threatened to do so if Tehran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Over the Easter weekend, he told the Iranians to "open the f**cking Strait" in a bellicose Truth Social post. He is set to address the nation to provide an update on the conflict at 1 p.m. EST.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that the U.S. has already won the war and numerous reports of a ceasefire agreement have ultimately come to naught.

Axios reported Monday morning that the U.S. and Iran were in talks to implement a possible 45-day ceasefire to avert an escalation of the war. The effect of the Israeli strikes on such an agreement remain unclear.
