Israeli missiles hit site within Iran: Report
The scale of the apparent Israeli strike remains unclear as of press time, but the move by Jerusalem appears to be a response to an unprecedented Iranian direct strike on its own territory over the weekend.
An Israeli missile struck a site within Iranian territory on Friday morning local time, ABC News reported, citing a "U.S. official."
Unconfirmed reports of explosions in Syria and Iraq have also emerged, according to the Jerusalem Post. Video footage has also circulated on social media purporting to show active air defense in Iranian territory around Isfahan.

Iran characterized its actions as a response to an alleged Israeli strike on a target within its embassy compound in Damascus, Syria.
"Conducted on the strength of Article 51 of the UN Charter pertaining to legitimate defense, Iran’s military action was in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus," Tehran warned at the time. "The matter can be deemed concluded. However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe. It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the U.S. MUST STAY AWAY!"
