New Orleans suspect said he joined ISIS before summer: FBI
"There were five videos posted on Jabbar's Facebook account," Deputy Assistant FBI Director Christopher Raia said.
The FBI confirmed on Thursday that the now-deceased suspect in the New Orleans terrorist attack on New Year's Day had stated online that he joined the Islamic State before the summer of 2024.
"There were five videos posted on Jabbar's Facebook account," Deputy Assistant FBI Director Christopher Raia said. "Additionally, he stated he had joined ISIS before this summer."
The suspect, Shamsud Din Jabbar, drove through a crowded New Year's celebration in the French Quarter of New Orleans, La., on New Year's Day. At least 14 people have been confirmed dead.
President Joe Biden has also confirmed that Din Jabbar was a U.S. citizen and veteran of the U.S. Army.
