North Korea tests new strategic missiles from destroyer as leader Kim Jong-un looks on
North Korea has been unusually active in testing weapons systems this month
South Korea on conducted another round of strategic cruise and anti-ship missiles from a destroyer with Kim Jong-un, the country’s leader, on hand to observe the exercise, according to reports Tuesday from North Korean state media.
The tests, which were conducted by the destroyer Choe Hyon, reportedly took place on Sunday, but the news was not reported until Tuesday. It was not immediately clear whether western powers were aware of the tests before they were reported by North Korean state news outlet KCNA.
The KCNA report said: “Comrade Kim Jong-un … expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the preparedness of the army’s strategic action had been strengthened.”
North Korea has been unusually active in testing it weapon systems in recent weeks.
