U.S. military jets launched massive strikes Sunday night against ISIS positions in Syria after the Assad regime fell, hoping to keep the terrorist group from advancing across the country or conducting attacks against the West.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said more than 75 precision strikes targeted camps and terror operatives and “were conducted as part of the ongoing mission to disrupt, degrade, and defeat ISIS.”

CENTCOM said it wanted to “prevent the terrorist group from conducting external operations and to ensure that ISIS does not seek to take advantage of the current situation to reconstitute in central Syria.”

Battle damage assessments from Air Force jets are underway, and there are no indications of civilian casualties, military officials said.

"There should be no doubt - we will not allow ISIS to reconstitute and take advantage of the current situation in Syria," General Michael Erik Kurilla said. "All organizations in Syria should know that we will hold them accountable if they partner with or support ISIS in any way."
