Vice President JD Vance on Thursday confirmed that the White House planned to brief Congress on the Iran deal and that lawmakers would receive a copy of the agreement on Thursday, if they hadn't already.

"We do plan to brief Congress very soon," he said at a White House press briefing. "I believe that they got the formal copy of the signed document this morning, and if not, they're going to get at some point later today."

Vance made the remarks while filling in for press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

"We are planning a briefing, I believe, right now the House is out of session, the Senate is in session, though maybe I've reversed that, but we're going to ensure that the team briefs Congress, of course, answers their questions," he went on. "We've been doing that informally, of course, talking to a number of people in Congress just over the last week. We'll keep on doing that, and we'll have a formal briefing. I won't say exactly when that will be, because it depends a little bit about session schedule."

The Iran agreement has prompted concerns from Israeli officials and war hawks over its terms, which include sanctions relief for the Iranian regime and does not include restrictions on Iran's ballistic missile arsenal.
