Illegal immigrants appear to storm US border in Texas, overpower guardsmen: video
So far one person has been arrested for assaulting a soldier.
A group of illegal immigrants appears to have recently stormed the U.S. border in El Paso, Texas, breaking through fencing and knocking down Texas National Guard members.
A video was taken by the New York Post and posted Thursday.
According to the new outlet, some of the migrants were taken into the U.S. for processing.
A Texas police source told Fox News that the group consisted of about 300 migrants and so far there has been one arrest for assaulting a soldier.
National Border Patrol Council president Brandon Judd also told Fox that agents are going through video footage to figure out who assaulted the other guard members.
The video was posted as GOP Gov. Greg Abbott attempts to take the state and country's immigration problems into his own hands.
He recently signed legislation into law that would allow Texas National guard members to arrest illegal migrants.
The courts have since suspended enforcement on the law.
A federal judge earlier this month blocked its enforcement.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court cleared the way for it to go into effect. However, hours later, the New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals halted enforcement of the law, reviving the federal judge's order blocking it.
The challenge to the law, on the argument only the federal government can make such arrests, was made by the Biden administration.
