Ex-CBP boss Mark Morgan skeptical of media claims that Harris 'flip-flopped' on the border
Customs and Border Patrol figures show that during the Biden administration more than 10 million people have come to the U.S. illegally. "She's just saying anything she can to get elected," says former CPB Commissioner Mark Morgan.
Former Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan slammed the mainstream media's most recent narrative that Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has been "flip-flopping" on the issue of the security of the southern border.
"She's not flip-flopping on where she actually stands on policies," Morgan said on the Friday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "She's just saying anything she can to get elected."
Last month, Axios published a story that claimed Harris was flip-flopping on her policy stance regarding the U.S. southern border and taking a more "hawkish" approach, closer to that of former President Donald Trump.
Trump recently accused Harris of stealing his "no tax on tips" policy when she said something similar during a rally in Vegas, according to Fox News.
"She's voted against the wall," Morgan said, referencing her record when she was a senator. "She's been for abolishing ICE. [She] referred to them as the KKK. She believes in giving free education and free healthcare to every single illegal alien. We could go on and on."
Republicans have been critical of Harris regarding her role in the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border with tens of thousands of people flooding into the U.S. every month.
In March of 2021, Biden announced that Harris would tackle the migration surge, though Symone Sanders, then-chief vice president spokeswoman, the same week insisted Harris was "not doing the border" and had been tasked to "take on the diplomatic effort, with Mexico and countries in the northern triangle to address the root causes of migration."
In July, the GOP-led House passed a resolution "strongly condemning" Harris, now the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, for her performance as the border czar.
Customs and Border Patrol figures show that during the Biden administration over 10 million people have come to the U.S. illegally. In November of 2018, when Harris was a senator, she compared ICE to the KKK. Morgan referred to her comments as "vile" and "reckless."
He said that if Harris wins the presidential election in 2024, the border wall will not be built and illegal immigration will continue to skyrocket. "If she becomes president, I guarantee you there won't be another foot of wall being produced," Morgan said. "She's going to continue to support sanctuary cities and she's going to do everything she can to abolish ICE."
Morgan said that if Harris has really changed her stance on issues like the border wall, she should do an interview and explain why she changed her mind.
"Let's give her an opportunity to explain the seemingly flip-flopping on positions like, for example.....'VP, Harris, I see in your campaign that you're strong on border security. You used to be against the Trump wall. Are you now for the wall being built?'" he asked.
He added that something else that needed to be addressed was sanctuary cities and if Harris would continue to support them as she has in the past. "This administration is knowingly and willfully allowing and facilitating individuals to come into this country that we have no ability to vet," Morgan said.
