President Donald Trump on Saturday morning criticized NATO allies for buying oil from Russia despite their opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

He said the allies' position "greatly weakens your negotiating position, and bargaining power, over Russia."

He also said in the Truth Social post: "I am ready to do major Sanctions on Russia when all NATO Nations have agreed, and started, to do the same thing, and when all NATO Nations STOP BUYING OIL FROM RUSSIA."

Russia invaded Ukraine nearly three years ago. Trump has tried unsuccessfully since taking office in January to broker a ceasefire or peace deal between Putin and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.
